Decades of Excellence in Technical Education

Our Journey Through Time

From humble beginnings to becoming a leading technical institution in Ghana

1965

Foundation & Early Years

Obuasi Senior High Technical School was established on November 21st, 1965, as a small technical institute with just two workshops and 50 students. The school started with basic programs in carpentry, masonry, and metalwork, responding to Ghana's growing need for skilled technicians during the early years of independence.

1970

Expansion & Growth

The 1970s marked a period of significant expansion. New workshops were constructed, and the school introduced electrical and plumbing programs. Student enrollment grew to over 300, and the first batch of graduates found employment in various industries across Ghana.

1985

Modernization Era

Major modernization efforts were undertaken in the mid-1980s. State-of-the-art equipment was installed, computer labs were established, and the curriculum was updated to meet international standards. The school became one of the first technical schools in Ghana to offer computer programming courses.

1995

Academic Recognition

OSECTEC received national recognition for academic excellence and became a model technical school for the entire West African region. The school introduced new programs in automotive technology and mechanical engineering, attracting students from neighboring countries.

2005

Digital Transformation

The school embraced the digital age by establishing modern computer science laboratories, installing advanced machinery, and partnering with international technology companies. Digital fabrication tools and CNC machines were introduced to prepare students for Industry 4.0.

2015

Innovation & Excellence

OSECTEC became the first technical school in Ghana to establish a research and development center. Students began participating in international competitions and winning awards. The school established partnerships with leading universities and technical institutions worldwide.
